Construction of Single Ferrule Fittings

Single ferrule fittings generally consist of three main parts:

  • Fitting Body – Provides the seating surface and connection interface
  • Ferrule (Cutting Ring) – Creates the mechanical grip and sealing action
  • Coupling Nut – Generates the compression force during tightening

This three piece design allows for secure assembly and dependable sealing performance.

Working Principle of Hydraulic Ferrule Fitting DIN2353

  1. Assembly
    The ferrule is slide over the tube, and the tube is inserted into the fitting body.
  2. Compression
    Tightening the coupling nut forces the ferrule forward into the fitting body’s internal seat.
  3. Grip & Seal Formation
    The ferrule provides a firm grip on the tube and creates a leak-free seal.
  4. Secure Connection
    The connection is capable of withstanding high pressure and vibration.

How the Hydraulic Ferrule Fitting DIN2353 Works

When the Coupling Nut is progressively tightened it makes the Progressive Ring to move on to the tube which subsequently makes two bites into the outside diameter of the pipe, thereby forming a visible collar of material at 1, ensuring a strong, reliable, high degree of safety and permanent sealing due to the outstanding construction & design of our progressive ring.
A second seal point at 2 is also created between the now bowed ferrule and the fitting body seat. The progressive ring in its dismantled state can be turned around while still on the tube. Fitting is a flare less three – piece design fitting comprising of a Socket body having a precision conical seat, a one – piece precision machined hardened Progressive Ring (ferrule) and a Coupling Nut.

These fittings are used along with SS Seamless hydraulic tubes of both Metric OD and Nominal bore tube sizes.  Since the dimensions are standard as per DIN 2353 it is possible to integrate these fittings into any hydraulic system without having to make any modifications in the hydraulic line. Hence, these fittings are ideal for both new installations as well as for upgrades of existing hydraulic lines. The fittings are generally supplied with Carbon Steel Case hardened ferrules of SS Weld nipples depending on the line conditions and the preference of the client.
