When a bare Hydraulic Hose is fitted with end fittings at both ends and the ferrule and stem are securely crimped using a Hydraulic Hose Crimping Machine, a complete Hydraulic Hose Assembly is formed.

Hydraulic Hoses of various sizes and pressure ratings are manufactured by hose manufacturers and supplied in rolls ranging from 30 meters to 100 meters.  Similarly, Hydraulic Hose Fittings of different types and sizes are supplied by fittings manufacturers in a ready to assemble condition. A hose assembler procures Hydraulic Hoses from the Hose manufacturers and the Hose end fittings from the respective Fittings manufacturer.

Factors Considered to Determine the Required Hose Assembly:

Flow rate of fluid in terms of liters per minute
The internal diameter of the hose is selected based on the required flow characteristics of the hydraulic system.

Working pressure of the hose
The appropriate hose grade such as SAE 100 R1, R2, R9, or 4SH is chosen according to the system operating pressure and application requirements.

End fitting configuration
The type of fitting at the machine connection point is evaluated. Based on this requirement, the matching thread standard such as BSP Fittings, Metric Fittings, or UNF JIC Fittings is determined.

 

The Hydraulic Hose Assembly Manufacturer evaluates the application requirements of the end user and, based on these parameters determines the suitable hose grade, internal diameter, and end fitting type to be supplied.

The selected hose is then cut to the required length. The outer rubber cover of the hose is then skived using a Hydraulic Hose Skiving Machine to prepare the hose for proper fitting insertion. The end fitting assembly, typically consisting of the ferrule cap, nut, and serrated stem, is then positioned onto the hose end.

The hose is subsequently placed in a Hydraulic Hose Crimping Machine, where the fitting is permanently secured. The hose now becomes a monolithic unit consisting of the rubber hydraulic hose and the end fitting set. The finished Hydraulic Hose Assembly is now ready for installation and use in hydraulic systems.
